The top 100 photos. A hundred photos for a hundred years of history may seem a lot. And yet it is hardly enough to trace the history of the city of New York during a 20th century that was extraordinarily packed with uncommon events. Sixty renowned photographers nonetheless rose to the challenge of portraying their city in this new way. Using colours or, on the contrary, the contrast of black and white, Morris Engel, Walker Evans and lfred Stieglitz all contributed to this grand photographic adventure. Note that the exhibition features photographers of Jewish extraction, as were most of the artists who chose New York as their subject. A highly significant choice.
