Surrealism, Catalan style. The Catalan painter and poet Joan Miro mixed both languages in an attempt to take his approach (which can be summed up as "literally and in every sense") to its logical limits. After the fifties, Miro fully explored his favourite subjects: stars, birds and women. He immersed himself in eroticism in order to rediscover, in his own manner, the surrealist movement. He does not provide guidance for spectators in search of meaning, leaving them free instead to come up with their own interpretation of his work. Joan Miro is without a doubt a solitary artist within the surrealist movement.
