First, catch your feather. Amazonian Indians express themselves through the use of feathered ornamentation. Having no other purpose than visual attraction, such costumed finery follows a strict code adhered to by all members of the same tribe, and provides an outlet for emotional expression as well as a means of ceremonial decoration. The feathers used by these Indians, coming mainly from macaws, toucans and other members of the parrot family, display an extraordinary range of colors. This exhibition, which presents a selection of feathered finery, is a feast for the eyes.
