New York under the rising sun While New Year's celebrations are already a distant memory for most people, the Chinese community of the city of New York is enthusiastically preparing for their holiday. Dragons, cymbals and costumes will brighten the areas surrounding Chinatown with their festive colours. The big parade will depart from the corner of Mott and Canal Streets at noon on the first day. Spectators are invited to walk for a while next to the performers, who will dance amidst the markets of Chinatown. We would like to take this opportunity to wish the entire Chinese population "Gong Xi Fa Cai", or Happy New Year in Mandarin.
