When Paris was the centre of inspiration A fertile ground for artists in search of inspiration, the French capital was a prized destination for creative souls for almost 70 years. The vitality and inventive spirit that reigned in Paris from 1900 to 1968 can be seen today in the period's greatest works of art, from Matisse to Léger. Four Paris districts were particular magnets for artists. All of the most famous spots, from Montmartre to the Latin Quarter, enjoyed their moment of glory but have since fallen out of favour with the arts scene. But art lovers have not forgotten that the seeds of Cubism, Surrealism and Existentialism were all first sown here. This exhibition will celebrate the cultural glory of the French capital.
