A collection on display in the heart of a monastery The mood is solemn and the passing centuries have left their indelible mark. This Augustinian monastery, dating from the 14th century, has been a museum since 1793 but retains an all-pervading sense of spirituality. There could be no better place to present a collection of 18th and 19th century sculptures, all the more so since the museum already houses paintings and sculptures dating from the Middle Ages and the early 20th century as well as a collection of Romanesque sculptures and early Christian objets d'art. The cloister, church, chapter houses and medieval garden serve to heighten the whole experience of art appreciation.
