The world on a bed of flowers For 10 years, Holland has been awaiting the return of its most famous event, the Floriade. The present show has been in preparation for more than a year and promises to live up to the expectations of an estimated two million Dutch and one million foreign visitors. This year's festivities are centred on three themes: colour, durability, and the international dimension. Horticulture, quite naturally, occupies pride of place at the Floriade, with more than 40 temporary displays spread over the show's seven-month run. Thirty guest countries offer the visitor a romantic, round-the-world tour and the chance to experience the cultural delights of Asia, Africa, America and Europe. This year's Floriade is a truly global encounter.
