A solitary genius The Swedish painter Anders Zorn was a well-known figure throughout Europe in the early 20th century. His paintings, with their powerful brushstrokes, often portray contemporary international figures, such as the French poet Paul Verlaine. Anders Zorn was a member of the Impressionist movement alongside Monet, Degas, Renoir and Cézanne. Although inspired by this French-based movement, he never lost sight of his Swedish roots. His canvases reflect his cultural background, sensitivity and individual technique. Approximately 50 paintings and drawings, all scrupulously executed in his own inimitable style, are now on display in a town that has always appreciated this artist's work.
