A city pays tribute to its artist. Katharina Fritsch is without doubt the most in-vogue artist in Germany. Born in Essen, she lives and works in Düsseldorf, which is why the town is delighted to host an exhibition devoted to one of its own. This event brings together Fritsch's main works with their mixture of the real, the hideous and the graphic. She also likes to work with popular imagery and stories, as she did for the Rat King in 1993. Fascination and revulsion are her watchwords. Everything about her work is intended to provoke a strong reaction, whether positive or negative, that will be forever imprinted on the mind, like a childhood memory.
