A Parisian soul. From his debut at the ABC in 1944 until his death in 1991, Yves Montand remained fervently Parisian. He began his career as a singer and triumphed in his 1981 concert at the Olympia. He was also loved by the movie industry and had much success therein, as seen by his role in the 1953 film by Clouzot, Le salaire de la peur (The Wages of Fear). But Montand did more than entertain the masses. His humanitarian commitment shown during the Stockholm Appeal in 1950 or when he assisted the boat people in 1979 revealed another side of this charismatic personality. This exhibition reviews every aspect of Montand's personality while providing a chronological outline of the exceptional career of this public idol.
