17th Century aesthetics and refinement. This artist had been a little neglected for some time and has recently aroused new interest. In his youthful period, Lubin Baugin, a 17th century painter, produced still lifes of rare beauty as well as relgious paintings that are soft, virginal and delicate, which awarded him his reputation. More of a poet than a craftsman, Baugin and his work are outside of any standard category. Indeed, he would not let himself be categorized by one artistic style or another, preferring to express his true nature and the noble sentiments that propelled him. For those who have never had a chance to admire any of his works, this exhibition is essential, for both art afficianados and general public.
