To bridge the gap that separates readers from the writer, the museum of printing hit upon the idea of asking art students to "rewrite" Hugo's works in pictures. The idea seems to have struck a chord, since every one of his masterpieces inspired caricatures and drawings. The biggest surprises are the new faces sported by the master's heroes, borne of the fertile imaginations of budding artists.
