Sigmund Freud revisited by Salvador Dali. The influence of Sigmund Freud's theories extends beyond psychoanalysis into the realm of art. Salvador Dali, a member of the Paris surrealist movement, used Freudian interpretations of dreams to create images that could be read on two levels. By focusing on the mythological figure of Gradiva (sprung from Wilhelm Jensen's imagination), Dali produced a large body of work that illustrates this story. Salvador Dali's discovery of the anthropomorphic ruins is one of the master's major works, and part of the collection of the Thyssen Bornemisza Museum. The originality of the subject makes it both remarkable and much-remarked.
