The development of the modern woodcut.From October 2013, the Galeries Nationales du Grand Palais in Paris is dedicating an exhibition to the artist Félix Vallotton.A Swiss artist born in Lausanne in 1865, Félix Vallotton became a French citizen in 1900. After frequenting the studios of the postimpressionists and the Nabis, the artist began to assert himself as a member of the Parisian avant-garde. He is renowned for his woodcuts and illustrations in black and white. Marked by the First World War and its horrors, Félix Vallotton drew upon the experience in his work. He passed away in 1925 and is buried in Montparnasse Cemetery.
