Banditi dell'arte, in all its poetic force, is the first major exhibition devoted to unconventional Italian creativity.
The exhibition at the Halle Saint Pierre opens a door into the private world of individuals who have created outside of any recognised system of official art or cultural bodies.
The art world is now familiar with Art Brut, but the concept remains relatively foreign to the Italian public, although artists such as Giovanni Podesta and Carlo Zinelli enjoy international recognition through the collection assembled by Jean Dubuffet.
The exhibition presents firstly works from psychiatric and prison collections. The other part of the exhibition is devoted to representatives from contemporary folk art.
