The Hotel de La Cité is located in the heart of 'La Cité Internationale' and nearby business centre. Built on the border of the 'Parc de la Tête d'Or' and only 10 minutes from Lyon's historical centre, a classified UNESCO cultural heritage site. The second largest city in France, Lyon is situated in south-east France between Paris and Marseille in the Rhone-Alpes region. The city is an important business centre and is known globally for its gastronomy, with over 1000 restaurants, dozens of which have prized Michelin stars.

Access to the Alps and Europe's premier ski resorts are just a short drive away and the important wine making regions of Beaujolais and Côtes de Rhône lie to the north and south.


Tête d'Or Park

Just twenty metres from the hotel, Tête d'Or is one of France's largest parks and its rolling green parkland contains a calm lake, immaculate rose garden, botannical glass houses and a city zoo. The park is ideal for a long afternoon stroll or a morning run along the jogging track.


Vieux Lyon

UNESCO World Heritage site Vieux Lyon, or Old Lyon, is a charming labyrinth of narrow streets, gothic architecture and the secret winding passages organized around three religious monuments; Saint Jean Cathedral, the medieval Church of Saint Paul and the impressive Church of Saint Georges.


La Presqu'île

The lively cosmopolitan Presqu'île (peninsula) is within the territory designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage site. It's home to Rue de la Republique, the long pedestrianized stretch bursting with pavement cafes, restaurants, street performers and cultural hotspots such as the Lyon Opera, Museum of Fine Arts and Célestins Theatre.


La Part-Dieu

Just a short bus ride or drive from the hotel, La Part-Dieu is the city's premier shopping and entertainment quarter where thousands of shops sell anything and everything, from designer fashion to electrical goods to specialty food.


Lyon Museum of Contemporary Art

A neighbour to the hotel, the Museum of Contemporary Art has a fantastic permanent collection and runs temporary exhibitions of modern art throughout the year. It is most distinctive however for its 'two faces'; the main part of the building a modern glass and brick structure, melded to the façade of Lyon's original Fair Hall.
