Old Town website
The Promenade des Anglais, on which the Hotel Westminster is situated, gives you direct access to the heart of Nice Old Town, with its beautiful baroque architecture, quaint winding streets, the 'trompe-l'oeil' facades and many churches. The Cours Saleya with its famous flower market and the place de Rossetti's Italian atmosphere are not to be missed.
Castle Hill
A shady park where locals stroll and take in the beautiful panoramic views of Nice and the sparkling Baie des Anges. In the heat of the summer it is cool and relaxing, but at any time it is worth taking the lift to the top of the chateau where the breathtaking views encompass Monaco and Cannes. The castle itself was founded in the 12th century but razed in 1706 by Louis XIV. The famous Italian soldier and hero, Garibaldi, is buried in the cemetery here and a naval museum is housed in the last remaining castle tower.
Museum of Modern And Contemporary Art website
'Mamac' is an architecturally stunning building that houses some of the most arresting modern works from names like Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein. Warhol's iconic 1965 Campbells Soup Can can be viewed along with Niki de St-Phalle's papier mache sculptures and a shopping trolley wrapped by Christo. Architects Yves Bayard and Henri Vidal have created a building which straddles the two halves of Nice - the urbanism of the harbourside and the medieval feel of the Old Town.
Russian Orthodox Church website
Designed to resemble St. Basile in Moscow, the Russian Orthodox Church of Saint Nicolas was finished in 1912, but based on 17th-century architectural style. The multi-coloured façade is crowned by six onion domes and inside, the frescoes, icons and wood paneling take you straight back to the days of Imperial Russia.
Villa Kerylos website
Located halfway between Nice and Monaco, this Grecian style dwelling is one of the most amazing places to visit on the Riviera. The Villa Kerylos gives you the experience of tasting life as an aristocrat of Ancient Greece - every detail of the house is authentic from the layout to the decoration and the gardens contain typically Greek plants such as olive trees and cypresses. A tribute to the classical era by archaeologist Theodore Reinach and patron of the arts Emmanuel Pontremoli, the villa is a work of sheer passion.
