The newest departments of the Louvre.

In Paris, the Louvre boasts one of the world's finest collections in the field of Islamic Art, brilliantly illustrating the world of Islam's culture from Spain to India, spanning the seventh to the late eighteenth century.

The all-new galleries devoted to Islamic Art will house 2,000 objects. Indeed, the Department of Islamic Art is the Louvre's newest department.

Extending over two floors on 2,800m ², the new department for Islamic Art will unveil architecture designed by the internationally renowned Mario Belliini and Rudy Ricciotti in the second half of 2012. It is located in the Denon wing, which skirts the Seine. The glass structure in wave form distinguishes itself significantly from the Louvre's other historic facades.
