Since the start of the 20th century, Avenue Montaigne has been renowned as the street for luxury, elegance and prestige. In 1913, Madeleine Vionnet presented her first fashion collection in the avenue and was quickly followed by many other famous designers. The same year, the avenue became home to the luxury Hotel Plaza Athénée and the famous Theatre des Champs-Elysees.

Today, the avenue continues to be synonymous with high fashion and luxury goods with stores such as Chanel, Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Bulgari and Harry Winston.
