Venice
delights every heart. In September, contemporary culture connoisseurs
and popular traditional aficionados thrill in unison.
The Biennial, when Venice glitters and
once again becomes the city of receptions, balls and Palaces.
The focal event is the La Mostra Film Festival
and the awarding of the Golden Lion. This is your chance to catch
a glimpse of Catherine Deneuve or Pedro Almodovar, both of whom
have been nominated. But the Biennial is also a cultural patchwork,
where all schools of art meet. On the program, the International
Theatre Festival, with performances of the masterworks
of Pasolini and Testorini, and the International Architecture
Exhibition, showing a series of visionary projects on
the theme of metamorphosis.
If Venice is still first and foremost
a city of romanticism and gondoliers for you, add a detour
to the Little Market of Miracles, a flea market
that will spice up to your visit. And, whatever you do, don't
miss the Burano regatta, the final great gondola
race of the season. An essential stop before sipping a strong
cup of espresso on the terrace of a trattoria.
