The lavish Neo-Baroque exterior of the Opera Garnier is the focal point at the end of the Avenue de l'Opera. The interior décor is heavily embellished with velvet, marble, gold leaf and nymphs and cherubs. The massive central chandelier is said to weigh six tons and lights a ceiling painted by Marc Chagall. |
